In this passage, Jesus answers a question about the greatest commandment, then offers his own riddle about the Messiah and his authority. He criticizes the scribes for their hypocrisy and manipulation. We learn that Jesus has true authority, he brings a superior kingdom, and he brings judgment on God's enemies.
